If you are working with clients seeking compensation for instances of clinical negligence, you will have witnessed first-hand the pain and distress that this can cause. This is not only the pain and suffering from the physical consequences, but the emotional suffering as well as the far-reaching consequences – relationships, financial impact, mental health and social interaction.

I greatly admire the role of the solicitors in helping victims to claim compensation for the physical suffering that they experience. However, the long term emotional needs should also be considered in order to offer long term support for clients. I can help to advice you on how many sessions may be required to assist with the recovery process in each case, and the financial compensation that needs to be applied accordingly.

About ICNTS

My name is Maureen Tuitt

I am a fully qualified, advanced Humanistic Integrative Counselor with over 15 years of counselling experience working with adults. I also have vast experience of working with young people and children who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma and related issues. I have a BA Honours degree, Certification in Counselling, Diploma in Humanistic Counselling, and Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I am a registered member of BACP (British Association Counselling and Psychotherapy), and am guided and abide by the BACP professional practice guidelines.

In my counselling practice, I utilise theories and tools that are appropriate for each unique case. However, there are many transferable skills from my work in NSPCC, Victims of Crime and my work within the mental health services. These skills afford me greater insight into how to meet the therapeutic needs of clients with issues arising from clinical neglect. Although I recognise that clinical negligence affects each person differently, I am in a unique position of having a wider understanding of the relevant issues having personally suffered from clinical neglect.
